Inno Phemba is a black owned and controlled company, founded in 2007 by a group of South Africans committed to economic transformation as envisaged in the Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Act of 2003 (“the BEE Act”). The word phemba means “to ignite”, and the company's name symbolises the founding shareholders' desire to make a creative and pro-active contribution to a non racial South Africa.

The Board of Directors comprise of 4 individuals with extensive business experience and each with a substantial shareholding in the company. They are Sebe Msutwana (Chairman), Imran Mahomed, Hillie Meyer and Morris Mthombeni. The other shareholders are two financial services companies, namely Corporate Solutions and Nodus.
